The Tarot Qabbala can be spelt many ways but the Kabbalah is the Hebrew philosophical system. The Qabbala or Quabalah is tarot used in conjunction with that system and Cabala is the form of magick used for this system.
What is the Tarot Qabbala, Kabbalah, Cabala?
It has been described as a symbolic representation of the relationship between the most abstract divinity and concrete humanity. Dion Fortune, an occultist defines it as " a compendium of science, psychology, philosophy and theology. It is an attempt to reduce to a diagrammatic form; every force, and factor manifested in the universe and the soul of the human; to correlate them one another and reveal them spread out on a map so the the relative positions of each unity can be seen and the relationship traced between them."
Legend speaks of its origin as given to ancient scholars by an Archangel for the helping them experience the mysteries. Another version states that it was given to Moses on Mt. Sinai when he received the ten commandments.Others claim the Qabbala was pieced together by Moses de Leon in the 12th century.
Tarot Qabbala?
The diagram of the Qabala contains 10 spheres. These represent numbers, elements, planets, herbs and deities. Within the Tarot, these present the numbers 1 - 10 of the suites but also the royal cards. Connecting these spheres are 22 "paths" that are attributed to the Major Arcana of the Tarot. There are twenty-two letters in the Hebrew alphabet and each letter correlates to a path on the Tree of Life or a Major Arcana Tarot Card.
One "journeys" the system by using the images of the cards as meditations and astrally traveling the Tree of Life.
The diagram can also be applied to the human body and the Indian system of Chakras. This is akin to the Alchemists whom their own body was the universe. This is the system of
Tarot Alchemy.
Aleister Crowley writes, "The Qabbala as the Tree of Life must be studied very carefully, for it is the whole system on which the Tarot is based. It is a universal figure and yet cannot mean the same to any one person to another. The Tarot however is the same for all in the same way in which any scientific formula is the same for all. The Tarot should be learnt as early in life as possible, a fulcrum for memory and a schema for mind. It is universally elastic and becomes a most ingenious and excellent method for appreciating the whole universe.
The Meaning of Numbers and the Ten spheres of the Qabbala; also the suites within the Tarot.
Numerology began when life began, because "in the beginning, there was One." the vibrations then began and the two appeared as a polarity, the first pair and ushered in the beginning of universal geometry. Numbers by themselves represent universal principles through which all evolve and continue to grow in a cyclic motion. The digits from one to nine symbolize the stages through which an idea must pass before it becomes a reality. Esoteric numerology is the art and science of understanding the spiritual significance and orderly progression of all manifestation. Every word or name vibrates to a number and every number has its inner meaning. The letter and number code, when correctly understood and applied brings us to a direct and close relationship with the underlying intelligence of Universe.
