Tarot Alchemy, Magic and Symbolism

Gold of the Soul

Tarot Alchemy is the art of transformation. The work of the alchemist is to bring about succeeding changes in the material operated on, transforming it from a gross unrefined state to a perfected and pure form.
Alchemy was the forerunner of chemistry. The definition of Alchemy is the transmuting of a base substance into its higher perfection form. It is the search for the Elixir of Life.
When the alchemist spoke of creating gold, it was the gold of soul. When the astrologer spoke of planets and constellations, it was cycles within cycles of humankind. When the Kabbalists spoke the name of Gods and Goddess, it was those principles within themselves and in nature. The world in itself consists of the four elements of the Tarot or the four principles of forming One.

The Name of God
The Hebrew letters for the elements spell the name of the God/dess.
Y. H. V. H.
The first letter expresses the active principle, the beginning or first cause, motion and energy. This is fire, male and within Tarot Alchemy the wands. The second letter expresses the passive element, inertia and quietude. This is water, female and the cups.
The third letter is the balance of opposites. Air is the second male and within Tarot Alchemy is represented by Swords. The fourth letter represents latent energy, the second female and discs.

Refer to Tarot Symbols for more correlations to tarot alchemy.

Therefore every phenomenon and every thing within the universe consists of the four elements of the Tarot, and everything consists of God/dess.

The Sacred Elements

Water is nourishing, pervasive and dissolving. Water in all cases appears to be a transporting agent whether carrying a molecule of matter in a chemical combination through a compact rock or as the medium in which immense rocks, ice and stone can be moved.
Fire is quickening, illuminating and heating. It is the gift from the Gods and the ultimate transformer. Fire will refine Gold, but not destroy it or alter is basic nature.
Gold is the focal point of alchemy as it was considered to contain all the elements, it is the crowning glory of all metals, it does not decay, rust or tarnish. The Egyptians called gold, "the flesh of the Gods". The attributes of gold, effluence, purity, incorruptibility embodied the power of the divine.

The Sacred Marriage

The divine parents or the King and Queen within Tarot Alchemy are considered gold and silver and thus the Sun and Moon. They are our heavenly eyes.
Alchemy views the cosmos as whole and alive and that all the components have spirit and purpose; the stars and the planets provide a field of energy that can be used passively or actively for creative purpose.
It therefore does not work against the natural and stellar influences but channels them to bring about transformation.
The process works as nature. Purification through putrefaction. Life and death as a cycle.
Nature rejoices in Nature, Nature charms Nature, Nature triumphs over Nature and thus Nature masters Nature.
